Why Was the Copa América Final Suspended?
The Copa América final between Argentina and Colombia suffered a major setback as what seemed to be a celebration turned into chaos when fans without tickets entered the Hard Rock Stadium without authorization. This led CONMEBOL to make that decision.
However, after several minutes of suspension, the South American football governing body allowed all fans outside the stadium to enter, causing significant overcrowding and forcing players to warm up.
Images of the disorder went viral on social media, leaving fans worldwide concerned not only about the safety of attendees but also of the players after this unprecedented event that did not yield to CONMEBOL's pressures.
"The authorities of the United States may take civil, criminal, or other legal actions for acts of violence committed inside and outside, as well as around the stadiums where the matches take place," it emphasized."
