Paolo Guerrero's Brace Guides LDU Quito to Victory in the First Leg of the Copa Sudamericana Semifinals
The Peruvian footballer was the hero of the night at the 'Casa Blanca,' where the first step towards the final of the continental competition was taken.
A brace from the Peruvian Paolo Guerrero and one more goal from Ezequiel Piovi guided LDU Quito to a 3-0 victory against Defensa y Justicia in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana semifinals.
Guerrero scored in the 17th and 42nd minutes, while Argentine Lucas Ezequiel Piovi sealed the score in the 88th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box.
Pending the return leg in Argentina, this comfortable victory allows Liga Deportiva Universitaria to dream of once again reaching the Copa Sudamericana final, a tournament they previously won in 2009 and were finalists in 2011.
