When and where will the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals be played?
The 2026 CONMEBOL Libertadores is entering its decisive stage. The final eight will compete in the quarterfinals between September 8 and 17, with matches taking place in Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador.
First legs begin on September 8
Quarterfinal action will begin on Tuesday, September 8 in Rio de Janeiro. Fluminense will host Platense at 7:00 p.m. local time at Estadio Maracanã. It will be the only match played that day and will officially open the round.
Two matches are scheduled for Wednesday, September 9. Palmeiras will host Liga de Quito at 7:00 p.m. at Estadio NuBank Parque in São Paulo. Later that evening, Estudiantes de La Plata will face Corinthians at 9:30 p.m. at Estadio UNO Jorge Luis Hirschi in La Plata.
The final first leg will be played on Thursday, September 10. Independiente del Valle will host defending champion Flamengo at 9:30 p.m. local time at Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito.
Second legs from September 15 to 17
The ties will begin to be decided one week later. On Tuesday, September 15, Platense will host Fluminense at 7:00 p.m. at Estadio Ciudad de Vicente López.
Two quarterfinals will conclude on Wednesday, September 16. Liga de Quito will welcome Palmeiras at 7:00 p.m. at Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito. Later that day, Corinthians will host Estudiantes de La Plata at 9:30 p.m. at Neo Química Arena in São Paulo.
The last semifinalist will be determined on Thursday, September 17. Flamengo will host Independiente del Valle at 9:30 p.m. at Estadio Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.
How are the quarterfinals decided?
The quarterfinals are played over two legs. Under the 2026 CONMEBOL Libertadores Club Manual, the team with the better aggregate goal difference advances. If the teams remain level after the second leg, the winner is decided directly by a penalty shootout, with no extra time.
The final eight include four representatives from Brazil —Fluminense, Palmeiras, Corinthians and Flamengo—, two from Argentina —Platense and Estudiantes de La Plata— and two from Ecuador —Liga de Quito and Independiente del Valle—.

The four winners will advance to the semifinals. The 2026 CONMEBOL Libertadores final is scheduled for November 28 at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, where the new South American champion will be crowned.
