The Round of 16 is officially over, and the road to continental glory is now down to eight teams and four intriguing matchups.
The Copa Libertadores 2026 quarterfinal field is complete. Independiente del Valle claimed the final spot after eliminating Deportes Tolima, setting up the four matchups that will determine this season's semifinalists.
The Ecuadorian side entered the second leg with a narrow advantage after winning in Ibagué and finished the job with a 3-1 victory, sealing a convincing 4-1 aggregate win.
Tolima's elimination also means Colombia no longer has a representative in the competition. For Independiente del Valle, the reward is a considerably tougher challenge: Flamengo now stand between them and a place in the final four.

All four ties will be played over two legs, leaving each team 180 minutes to keep its dream of lifting South America's biggest club trophy alive.
Several former champions remain in contention, alongside teams hoping to upset the established powers as the tournament enters its decisive stages.
The road to the final takes shape
The bracket also gives us a clear picture of what could come next. The winner of Estudiantes de La Plata vs Corinthians will face whoever advances from Independiente del Valle vs Flamengo.
On the other side, the winner of Liga de Quito vs Palmeiras will meet the team that survives Platense vs Fluminense.
That means Flamengo and Palmeiras cannot meet before a potential final, while Corinthians would first need to overcome Estudiantes and then the winner of Independiente del Valle-Flamengo to reach the title match.
September brings the next chapter
The quarterfinals are expected to take place in September. Under the tentative schedule, the first legs would be played during the week of September 8, with the return legs following during the week of September 15.
Three of the four ties already have a tentative schedule, while Independiente del Valle vs Flamengo is still awaiting final confirmation.
That delay stems from Independiente's previous tie against Deportes Tolima, which had to be pushed back by a week following the earthquake that struck Colombia. With the final eight now confirmed, the Copa Libertadores is ready to enter its decisive stretch.
