How to Watch: 2 de Mayo vs. Alianza Lima on beIN SPORTS
2 de Mayo makes its debut in Copa Libertadores against Alianza Lima in a qualifying clash
Wednesday's qualifying match for the 2026 Copa Libertadores group stages sees an absolute beginner in South America's elite club competition taking on a seasoned pro.
Paraguay's 2 de Mayo is making its first ever appearance in the Copa Libertadores having qualified as runners up in last year's Copa Paraguay. The team is making its debut at the very beginning of the qualifying campaign in the first of three rounds that need to be passed to reach the group stages.
2 de Mayo has been handed one of the hardest draws in the preliminary stages with a two-legged clash against the regional giants of Alianza Lima. The Peruvian side took part in the 2025 Copa Libertadores in the group stages. After finishing third, the team moved into the Copa Sudamericana and eventually reached the quarters.
Wednesday's game in Paraguay and the return leg in Peru will be the club's 199th and 200th game in Copa Libertadores, in stark contrast to the team's first opponents in the 2026 edition of the competition.
