The 2026 Copa Libertadores preliminary phase is down to its final four games as the last available places in the group stages are decided. Both Botafogo and Barcelona SC will be in action on Tuesday live on beIN SPORTS to make sure they are taking one of those spots.

Brazilian side Botafogo currently has the edge in the two-legged tie after holding Ecuador’s Barcelona SC to a 1-1 draw in last week’s first match-up. History is certainly on the team’s side in the deciding leg, with Botafogo having lost just one Libertadores home knockout match in the club's history, and that was way back in 1963.

Nevertheless, it would be a damaging blow for Botafogo not to reach the Copa Libertadores group stages after winning the competition in 2024, an incredible year for the club that also saw the team win the Brazilian league title.

Barcelona SC did feature in the final stages of the 2025 Copa Libertadores, but finished bottom of their group after being drawn into a tough rivalry with River Plate and fellow Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.

The CONMEBOL journey will not be completely over for the loser of the four remaining third-round ties, as that team automatically takes a place in the group stages of the 2026 Copa Sudamericana. However, both Botafogo and Barcelona SC will have their eyes on the big prize of the Libertadores and the quest for Eternal Glory.
