Palmeiras secured a convincing 3-1 victory against the impressive Liverpool from Uruguay, who caught the Brazilian team off guard from the first minute. However, class and excellent football were the perfect combination for Academia Palestra to clinch the win at home.

The first half was surprising for the hosts, as Liverpool took an early lead with a goal from Jean Rosso in the 3rd minute, which took over 6 minutes to decide its validity due to a meticulous offside call. Despite being behind for almost the entire first half, Palmeiras managed to equalize in the 45th minute thanks to Aníbal Moreno's goal. 

In the second half, parity was evident, but an excellent Palmeiras secured the result, first with a goal giving them the lead in the 58th minute by José López, and another from Estevao Willian in the 66th minute to seal a match that took them to the top of the group. With this result, Palmeiras leads Group F with four points, while Liverpool sits in third place with 1 point.
