This is the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 Lineup Following the Draw
The duels between River Plate and Argentinos Juniors against the Brazilians Internacional and Fluminense, respectively, will liven up the Round of 16 in the Copa Libertadores, which will take place starting from the first week of August.
The draw for this stage, held this Wednesday at the headquarters of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) in Luque, Paraguay, also set up a true clash of titans between the Argentine Boca Juniors - the second most successful team in this tournament - and the Uruguayan Nacional.
Likewise, the confrontation between the Brazilians Atlético Mineiro and Palmeiras draws attention, as both teams have a total of four trophies in their showcases.
In the Round of 16, the current champion, the Brazilian Flamengo, will face the Paraguayan Olimpia, which has won this competition three times and, along with Internacional from Porto Alegre, remains unbeaten in this edition.
On the other hand, the Colombian teams Atlético Nacional and Deportivo Pereira will face off against the Argentine Racing and the Ecuadorian Independiente del Valle, respectively.
In this phase, where 16 teams will compete, the first leg matches will take place from August 1 to 3.
The second leg matches will be played in the second week of August (from 8 to 10), as established by Conmebol.
The final, scheduled for November 4, will be held at the Maracanã stadium in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
