Peñarol delivered an outstanding performance at home, crushing The Strongest 4-0 in the first leg of the 2024 CONMEBOL Libertadores Round of 16.

The scoring began early, with Leo Fernández finding the net in the 9th minute, followed by Maximiliano Silvera doubling the lead to 2-0 by the 16th minute. Jaime Báez added a third in the 36th minute, underscoring Peñarol's dominance. The final goal came from Facundo Batista in the 72nd minute, sealing the 4-0 victory.

Peñarol will now travel to Bolivia for the return leg on August 21st, where they will face The Strongest at the Estadio Hernando Siles.
