Edinson Cavani Completes Move to Boca Juniors!
Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani, recently released from Spanish club Valencia, is the new player for Boca Juniors, where he will play until December 2024, as announced by the team on its social media this Saturday.
Cavani becomes the third reinforcement for the "Xeneizes" following the arrivals of right-back Lucas Blondel from Tigre and winger Lucas Janson from Vélez.
The club had previously freed up two foreign player spots to advance in the signing of the former player of Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, among others, and to include him in the squad list for the Copa Libertadores.
In a brief message on Instagram, the club from La Ribera published a blue plaque with the word "Reinforcements" in yellow letters (the official colors of the club), stating, "Edinson Cavani has agreed to join Boca until December 2024."
According to media reports, the player would travel to Uruguay to visit his family in Salto and later arrive in Buenos Aires for a medical examination and to sign a contract for 18 months.
Cavani's arrival at Boca Juniors is a dream of the vice president, former footballer Juan Román Riquelme, who desired his signing as a boost in quality to achieve the goal of winning the seventh Libertadores and equaling the record of the 'King of Cups,' the Argentinean Independiente, the only team in history to win seven titles.
Cavani will be eligible to join the "xeneize" squad for the upcoming match against Nacional from Uruguay, precisely one of the teams that had shown interest in signing him.
