Jamal Musiala shows support for Donnarumma and reveals hints about his comeback after his serious injury
Jamal Musiala breaks the silence after his serious injury against PSG: he reveals when he plans to return and shows empathy for Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The blow that changed everything
Bayern Munich suffered a major setback at the 2025 Club World Cup when Jamal Musiala was stretchered off after a brutal collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma, then PSG’s goalkeeper. The outcome was devastating: a broken fibula and a dislocated ankle, an injury that sidelined him for months.
Today, the 22-year-old German spoke to Sport Bild about the physical and mental toll of that moment: “I don’t like to think about it. I’ve never watched the video, only photos. It was my comeback to the starting eleven after a muscle injury, and suddenly everything collapsed.”
No grudges toward Donnarumma
Far from fueling controversy, Musiala showed empathy toward the Italian keeper, now at Manchester City: “I can imagine how bad he felt in that moment. He didn’t do it on purpose, I’m not angry with him. He contacted me afterward and everything is fine. These things happen,” he admitted.
The gesture reveals the maturity of a player who, despite the severity of the injury, chose to focus on recovery rather than controversy. “I no longer need crutches, but I don’t want to rush. I’d rather take the time I need,” he added.
Bayern’s future without their jewel
Musiala’s absence has forced new coach Vincent Kompany to reshape Bayern’s attack. With Michael Olise and Nicolas Jackson stepping up, the Bavarians are trying to keep pace in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League without one of their most creative players.
Musiala, considered one of Europe’s brightest young talents, is targeting a return in the second half of the 2025-26 season. His goal is to come back not just fully recovered but stronger, ready to contribute to Bayern and the German national team, which also feels his absence.
