Noa Lang Cut His Finger and Surprised Everyone. What Were the Most Shocking Injuries in Football?
A brief overview of the most shocking sports injuries following Noa Lang's latest injury
Noa Lang and his injury
Galatasaray player Noa Lang’s recent injury shocked social media after he cut his finger on an advertising banner during a match against Liverpool. The Dutchman nearly lost a finger, sustaining a cut on his thumb in a scene that shocked even his opponents on the field. Ultimately, he had to be stretchered off the pitch by the medical team for subsequent surgery.
Other injuries that shocked the world
This is not the first time that a soccer injury has caused a stir among fans and players. In 1981, German player Ewald Lienen suffered a 10-inch (25-centimeter) gash on his leg during a match between Werder Bremen and Arminia. Another highly shocking incident involved Giovani Dos Santos in a match between América and Chivas, where Antonio Briseño's cleats tore a hole in Dos Santos's leg, alarming both fans and players.
A slightly more notable incident occurred in England in 1989, when Terry Butcher's white England national team shirt was covered in blood after he was involved in a collision. More recently, Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta required 25 stitches.
The Passion of Soccer
While Noa Lang’s case was not the only one, it impressed everyone and, like the other players, it is a testament to the passion and dedication that make these games a vivid portrayal of those qualities
