This is Ter Stegen's Replacement for Germany
Stuttgart's goalkeeper, Alexander Nübel, will be the one to guard Germany's goal in the Nations League match on Friday against Bosnia, replacing the injured Barcelona goalkeeper, Marc-André Ter Stegen. Meanwhile, Oliver Baumann, the Hoffenheim goalkeeper, will be the starter in the match against the Netherlands.
According to several German media outlets, the goalkeeper, on loan from Bayern Munich, will take the position in the first of the two matches the 'Mannschaft' will play during the break. This was hinted at by the German Football Association (DFB) when they announced Nübel as one of the participants in the Thursday pre-match press conference.
During that press conference, according to reports, the coach Julian Nagelsmann, who will also attend the press conference, will announce that Stuttgart's goalkeeper will be the starter in the match to be played in the Bosnian city of Zenica.
Regarding the match against the Netherlands
The same sources indicate that in the other international break match, on Monday against the Netherlands in Munich, Oliver Baumann will take the starting position.
These forecasts have been confirmed by the DFB, which, in a statement about the distribution of numbers for both matches, shows Nübel with number 1, typically used by starting goalkeepers, for the first match, while Baumann will wear number 12. For the second match, the numbers are swapped (Nübel, number 12, and Baumann, number 1).
In the press conference last Monday, the coach already hinted at the possibility of both goalkeepers getting opportunities in the double fixture: "Oliver and Alex have done very well. We still don't know what the distribution will be. Baumann had a spectacular start, with many good matches in the Bundesliga and the Europa League. He deserves to play an international match," he anticipated.
