Portugal, Led by Cristiano Ronaldo, to Face Finland and Ireland Ahead of Euro Cup
The Portuguese national team, led by Cristiano Ronaldo and coached by Spanish manager Roberto Martínez, will fine-tune their aim for the 2024 Euro Cup in Germany with two friendly matches against Finland and Ireland, as announced by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) on Wednesday.
The Portuguese squad will face Finland at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon on June 4.
On June 8, it was already announced that they will face Sweden in another friendly at the Estádio Nacional de Portugal (Oeiras-Lisbon), and on June 11, they will play against Ireland in the Portuguese city of Aveiro (Central region).
The first preparatory test for the Euro Cup is scheduled for March 21 in Guimarães (north), against Sweden.
This lineup of opponents aligns with Roberto Martínez's desires, as he had previously stated he wanted the preparation matches to address the peculiarities of the rivals they will face in Germany.
Portugal is placed in Group F, alongside Turkey, the Czech Republic, and a yet-to-be-defined opponent (Georgia, Kazakhstan, Greece, or Luxembourg).
Under the guidance of the Catalan coach, the Portuguese squad is one of the favorites to win the tournament after an exceptional qualification phase: 10 wins in 10 matches, 36 goals scored, and only 2 conceded.
