Morata Talks About His Move to AC Milan
Spanish forward Álvaro Morata, player for Atlético de Madrid, whose transfer to AC Milan is being finalized in the last few hours, expressed his "eagerness to start" with the Italian club and showed his confidence in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paulo Fonseca in statements to the Italian press.
"I can't wait to start. Now I'm going on vacation because I need to be with my family who helped me a lot, otherwise, I would be training from tomorrow," declared the 31-year-old footballer and recent EURO 2024 champion with the Spanish national team to Sky Sports Italia.
When asked about the reason for his decision to return to Serie A, where he played for two seasons with Juventus, Morata highlighted "the confidence of Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) and the coach," the Portuguese Paulo Fonseca.
"I know I have the best years of my career ahead of me," assured the Spanish athlete, who spoke of AC Milan as "a great club."
The current Atlético de Madrid player will sign with AC Milan in the next few hours, with a 4-year contract after the club pays his release clause of 14.1 million dollars, according to Italian media.
The captain of the newly crowned Euro Cup winning team will earn between 4.9 and 5.4 million dollars per season until 2028, with the possibility of staying for one more year if AC Milan wishes.
Former player Zlatan Ibrahimovic and current director of the Milan club reportedly convinced Morata to leave Atlético de Madrid, who had expressed his desire to win titles with Atlético de Madrid on social media two weeks ago.
