Messi Doesn't Have This: How Cristiano Ronaldo Celebrated His Colossal Record
The Portuguese became the first footballer to be the top scorer in the first division of four different leagues and celebrated with this message.
Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first footballer to finish as the top scorer in the first division of four different leagues: LaLiga, Premier League, Serie A, and the Saudi Pro League, after leading the goal-scoring chart in the Saudi league at the end of the campaign this Monday.
The Portuguese, at 39 years old, concluded the league season with 35 goals in 31 matches, including four hat-tricks and five braces, the latest one coming last Monday against Al-Ittihad on the final matchday. He only completed nine matches without scoring, allowing him to finish seven goals ahead of Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic from Al-Hilal, who won the championship.
"Proud to make history as the first top scorer in 4 countries. I want to extend a huge thank you to all the clubs, teammates, and staff who helped me along the way," expressed the forward on his account on the social network 'X'.
Cristiano's first top scorer title was achieved with Manchester United in England, thanks to scoring 31 goals in 34 matches in the 2007/08 season, a title he almost retained the following season, falling just one goal short of Frenchman Nicolas Anelka, who played for Chelsea.
His impressive records earned him a transfer to Real Madrid, where he began a historic rivalry with Argentine Lionel Messi, whom he surpassed three times to win the top scorer trophy: in the 2010/11 season with 40 goals in 34 matches, in 2013/14 with 31 goals in 30 matches, and in 2014/15 with his best numbers of 48 goals in 35 matches.
After signing with Juventus on July 10, 2018, the Portuguese won the 'Capocannoniere' trophy (the name given to the top scorer in the Italian league) with 29 goals in 33 matches in the 2020/21 season.
The Portuguese star, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, has also been the top scorer in the Champions League seven times, in two Club World Cups, and in two European Championships among other tournaments he has competed in.
This season, the player born in Madeira won the Arab Club Champions Cup, reached the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League, and finished second in the league championship. He could end the season with a victory in the King's Cup of the Asian country next Friday against Al-Hilal.
