Lyon–Nice: Bulka Denounces Refereeing as 'Scandalous'
Marcin Bulka expressed his frustration with the refereeing of Clément Turpin after OGC Nice's defeat to Olympique Lyonnais on Friday night (1-0).
Clément Turpin is on everyone's lips among the Nice players. This Friday night, OGC Nice suffered a defeat against Olympique Lyonnais at the Groupama Stadium, opening the 22nd matchday of Ligue 1 (1-0). Despite being dominant, the Eagles couldn't find the breakthrough and suffered their second consecutive defeat in Ligue 1. After the match, the players were particularly upset with the refereeing. They believed that two penalties were overlooked for fouls by Caleta-Car and Tagliafico, without VAR intervention.
Marcin Bulka expressed his frustration in the mixed zone, as reported by RMC Sport: "The refereeing... for two matches, the decisions are not 100% right. We can do much better with VAR. There were many occasions where we could have at least consulted VAR to make the right decision. There is also the added time. The referee gives three minutes when the opposing goalkeeper loses at least five minutes, and we only add three minutes with all the substitutions that have been made... it's a bit strange, I would like an explanation."
"The same referee is involved," Bulka denounces
The goalkeeper regrets that events are piling up, a week after complaining about the refereeing in the derby against Monaco: "We're going into another match where the decisions are not fair, the same referee is involved (Turpin)... With VAR, we can make slightly fairer decisions, we have more time, that's why they introduced VAR. I don't understand why we can't take 30 seconds more. It's not an excuse, but it's another case that adds up. Refereeing is important; it can also change the game. We're not looking for excuses in refereeing, even if it's scandalous."
