Is This a Joke? Tchouaméni Also Injured
Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni has withdrawn from the French national team camp due to problems with his left foot and will be replaced by Mattéo Guendouzi (Lazio) for the upcoming matches against Italy and Belgium, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced on Monday.
Tchouaméni sustained the injury during the first training session held Monday afternoon at the French national team's camp in Clairefontaine.
This is the third withdrawal Didier Deschamps has had to deal with since Sunday, following the absences of Wesley Fofana and Ferland Mendy due to various physical issues. They have been replaced by Loïc Badé and Lucas Digne.
Tchouaméni's injury adds to the growing list of concerns for Carlo Ancelotti, who has been dealing with multiple injuries in just over half a month of competition, three of them affecting the midfield. Ancelotti is already without Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga and Englishman Jude Bellingham, both of whom still face about a month of recovery. Additionally, midfielder Dani Ceballos is also sidelined.
