Fede Valverde Confirms Luis Suárez's Claims About Bielsa
Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde, who plays for Real Madrid, confirmed on Monday that what Luis Suárez said about Uruguay's national team coach Marcelo Bielsa "is all true" and that the way to resolve issues is by talking.
"What Luis said is all true. He never lied, and he never said anything that wasn’t true. He didn’t exaggerate at any point; he said things as they are. On my part, and as with all the leaders, we talk in the locker room. We talk amongst ourselves as a team, as we always have, and we try to improve," Valverde told the press.
Valverde emphasized that communication is key to solving problems, something that has been practiced multiple times since Bielsa took over as Uruguay's coach.
"We’ve always handled things that way, and this is just another situation that will be resolved in the same manner," Valverde said. He also added that Suárez doesn’t need permission to speak and that he lives football with "tremendous passion."
"He’s Luis Suárez, the idol of all Uruguay, and he can do whatever he wants," the midfielder concluded during an interview at Carrasco International Airport.
A few days ago, Suárez, the all-time top scorer for Uruguay, gave an interview on the show De Fútbol Se Habla Así on DSports, where he shared several incidents involving Bielsa in recent times.
Suárez highlighted that some players had asked the Argentine coach "to at least say good morning" and warned that it wouldn’t be surprising if more players decided to stop playing for Uruguay. In fact, he mentioned that some players considered quitting the national team during the last Copa América.
Additionally, Suárez mentioned that some staff members, such as equipment managers and physiotherapists, "loved" working with Óscar Washington Tabárez or Diego Alonso, but now they no longer enjoy their work.
