Botafogo Secure the Final Spot For the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup
Brazilian club Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas made history, claiming their first Copa Libertadores title in their 120-year existence. This monumental achievement not only marked a defining moment for the "Lone Star Team" but also confirmed their place as the final team among the 32 qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
From continental glory to the world stage
Botafogo overcame numerous challenges in the final against Atlético Mineiro. Playing with ten men from the opening minutes due to the expulsion of midfielder Gregore, the team withstood immense pressure before securing a commanding 3-1 victory. With this win, they earned their spot as South America's representative at the next Club World Cup.
Set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, the expanded tournament will feature the top clubs from the past four years, divided into eight groups of four. The final will be held at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey, with the opening match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
