Boca Juniors negotiates the signing of Ander Herrera
Boca Juniors has started negotiations to sign Spanish footballer Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao, as confirmed by sources from the Argentine club. The talks are underway, and the player, a well-known Boca fan, would be fulfilling his dream of playing in Argentine football.
The xeneize club believes that Herrera’s willingness to join the team could facilitate the deal, much like what happened with Iker Muniain's move to San Lorenzo. However, negotiations with Athletic Bilbao won’t be easy, and Boca will need to make an offer close to the player's release clause, which expires in June of this year.
Mikel González, the football director of the Basque club, emphasized the importance of Herrera to the team, both on the field and in the locker room, due to his experience and leadership. Despite the challenges, Boca remains optimistic about convincing the club’s management to release the player.
Meanwhile, Boca is set to announce the signing of defender Ayrton Costa from Royal Antwerp in Belgium, who will be the second signing following Carlos Palacio's arrival from Colo Colo.
Boca’s president, Juan Román Riquelme, is also keeping an eye on forward Alan Velasco from Dallas FC. After a previous rejected offer, Boca has now presented a proposal of 10 million dollars plus bonuses, hoping the player will return to Argentina for the 2025 season.
Boca Juniors’ new season will include domestic competitions, the Copa Libertadores, and the Club World Cup, and the club continues to focus on strengthening its squad for these challenges.
