(VIDEO) Viral Simulation of Hurricane Milton Which Threatens Argentina National Team and Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team experienced hours of anxiety, not only because their match against Venezuela was postponed but also due to the danger posed by a natural phenomenon like Hurricane Milton.
While the team, led by Lionel Scaloni, was preparing in Miami for the first of two matches during this FIFA window, their attention was also focused on what would happen with Milton, a hurricane that reached Category 5 with winds of up to 165 mph, keeping the entire state of Florida on alert.
The Viral Video Simulating Milton's Devastation
In light of this situation, the American network The Weather Channel created a viral simulation showing the potential consequences of the phenomenon. The video depicts how water levels rise rapidly, endangering millions of residents, homes, and electrical installations.
Approximately 5.5 million people are under mandatory evacuation orders in several Florida counties, marking one of the largest evacuations in the state's history, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), due to the hurricane's imminent arrival tonight.
Messi and the Argentina National Team Escape the Hurricane
The Argentina national team, led by Lionel Messi, left Miami (United States) on Wednesday en route to Venezuela, with a stop in Colombia.
As previously mentioned, there was considerable uncertainty about the Albiceleste's travel plans. However, the team was able to start their flight to Barranquilla (Colombia), the layover for their trip to Maturín, the site of tomorrow's match, as reported by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) through their social media, along with photographs of the players on the plane.
The proximity of Milton jeopardized the journey of the players summoned by Lionel Scaloni, including Lionel Messi, which would have forced the postponement of the match against Vinotinto.
What Lionel Scaloni Said About Hurricane Milton
"We had requested to travel today, but we were denied due to the hurricane, and the trip would be on Wednesday," the world champion coach told reporters during a press conference.
"It would be almost impossible to leave on Thursday," Scaloni explained regarding the possibility that the delegation might not be able to depart this Wednesday either.
"It doesn’t depend on us. The most important thing is the health of the people. One cannot isolate themselves from what is happening outside; for everyone’s health, they protect themselves by leaving their homes. It’s something new, different for us, to which we are not accustomed. We are on alert. It could just be a passing situation," he added.
