The numbers told the story: over 70% possession, sustained pressure around the box and complete territorial control throughout the contest.
El Kaabi sets the tone early
The breakthrough arrived quickly. Ayoub El Kaabi opened the scoring in the 9th minute, reacting first inside the area to turn home a pinpoint delivery from Azzedine Ounahi following a well-worked set piece.
The goal only intensified Morocco’s grip on the game, as Zambia struggled to escape the relentless pressure.
Brahim Díaz strikes before the break
Morocco doubled their advantage just before halftime through Brahim Díaz, who capped another incisive move with a composed finish to make it 2-0.
At the interval, the balance of power was unmistakable: Morocco led in possession, chances created and overall tempo, while Zambia offered little threat going forward.
A spectacular finish to seal it
The second half followed a similar pattern. Morocco managed the game with maturity and eventually put the result beyond doubt as El Kaabi struck again, producing a stunning overhead kick to complete his brace and make it 3-0.
It was a moment of quality that summed up a dominant night for the North African side.
Morocco advance, Zambia bow out
With the win, Morocco finished Group A as outright leaders on seven points, unbeaten and brimming with confidence heading into the knockout stages of AFCON 2025.
For Zambia, defeat confirmed their elimination, ending the group phase on two points and without a path forward as one of the best third-placed teams.
