The outsiders who remain in the conversation
At the lower end of the favorites list sit Egypt and Nigeria, two historic powers that can never be fully ruled out. Egypt, the most successful nation in AFCON history, carry odds of 9.80, reflecting an unconvincing group-stage performance but a team built for knockout football.
Nigeria follow with odds of 5.95. The Super Eagles have already shown why they are dangerous, combining intensity and attacking quality led by Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. Their path is challenging, but their potential remains undeniable.
Algeria, the dark horse no one wants to face
Slightly higher in the betting hierarchy is Algeria, priced at 8.95. The Desert Foxes sent a clear message during the group stage, advancing comfortably and displaying strong collective balance.
History is on their side: both of Algeria’s AFCON titles were won in North Africa, and with leaders like Riyad Mahrez, they possess the individual quality to decide tight knockout matches. Not favorites on paper, but far from an easy opponent.
Senegal, consistent contenders at the top
The odds place Senegal firmly among the main challengers, with a price of 4.45. The Lions of Teranga boast one of the deepest squads in the tournament, blending experience, physicality and elite-level talent developed across Europe’s top leagues.
While their group-stage run was not flawless, Senegal are widely viewed as a team that grows as the stakes rise. Their status as Africa’s top-ranked nation keeps them firmly in the title conversation.
Morocco, the clear betting favorite
At the top of the market stand Morocco, with odds of 2.95. Despite not lifting the AFCON trophy since 1976, several factors work in their favor: home support, squad depth and a commanding final group-stage victory that restored confidence.
Those expectations are backed up by Opta data. According to their projections, Morocco hold a 22.52% chance of winning the tournament, ahead of Senegal (17.64%), Algeria (14.91%), Egypt (12.25%) and Nigeria (11.96%). The numbers point to a clear frontrunner—but AFCON history suggests surprises are never far away.
