Karius Talks About the Resurgence of His Career.
After the mistake in the Champions League final in 2018, he’s looking to redeem himself with Schalke 04.
Karius' return to football
Loris Karius is making a comeback after the Champions League final in Kyiv, which marked the end of his Liverpool career. Loris Karius currently plays for FC Schalke 04, who are fighting to earn promotion to the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. He has regained his starting spot on this team and could lead this historic German club back to the top flight.
Mistakes that marked his career
The German goalkeeper managed to reinvent his confidence and his career as well. “In my mind, I was retired.” I didn’t do anything for seven months. It sounds dramatic, but I was practically retired,” he confesses to The Independent.
Karius made two crucial errors during the match against Real Madrid: the first was a mistake that Benzema converted into a goal, and the second was the third goal, which came from a long-range shot by Gareth Bale, marking Real Madrid’s third goal and sealing their victory, ultimately leading to his replacement by Alisson.

A new opportunity
After being released from the Liverpool team at the age of 29, Karius considered retirement and, with no offers from any club, took a seven-month break.
Eight years later, in the German second division, with 19 starts as the first-choice goalkeeper, he could win over a club’s fans once again. The German helped the historic German club fight their way from relegation to the third division to the top of the second division.
Will Loris Karius be able to restore this team to its former glory and his own at the same time?
