Andy Murray to Retire After Olympic Games
Scottish tennis player Andy Murray confirmed on Tuesday that he will retire after the Olympic Games, stating that Paris 2024 will be his "last tennis tournament."
Murray, whose retirement had been anticipated, was unable to bid farewell to Wimbledon in singles recently after undergoing surgery for a spinal cyst just a week before the tournament began.
The 37-year-old three-time Grand Slam champion, who is the only man to have won two Olympic gold medals in singles tennis, announced his decision via his Instagram account.
"I arrived in Paris for my last tennis tournament @Olympics. Competing for GB (the UK team) has been by far the most memorable weeks of my career, and I am very proud to be able to do it one last time," he wrote.
