The Mexicans Juan Manuel Celaya and Osmar Olvera won the silver medal in the 3-meter synchronized diving event, trailing behind the unbeatable Chinese pair Daoyi Long and Zongyuan Wang.

Celaya and Olvera completed the competition, held at the Paris Aquatic Center, with a total of 444.03 points, compared to the 446.10 points of the champions, who reaffirmed Chinese dominance. The British duo Anthony Harding and Jack Laugher finished on the podium with 438.15 points.

This is the third medal for the Mexican delegation at Paris 2024, following the silver won by judoka Prisca Awiti and the women's archery team composed of Ángela Ruiz, Alejandra Valencia, and Ana Vázquez.

Celaya, who finished fourth at Tokyo 2020 alongside Yahel Castillo, and Olvera, the 2024 world champion in the 1-meter springboard in Doha, confirmed the good impressions and excellent results they have achieved in this Olympic cycle.

They started the competition at the Aquatic Center with a dive scoring 49.80 points, placing them in third position. They dropped to sixth after the second dive but climbed to first place after the third and fourth dives.

From that moment on, the Chinese divers significantly raised their performance and left no opportunities, although the Mexican divers held their ground and secured a valuable silver, the first in this 3-meter synchronized diving discipline.

This medal also keeps the team on the Olympic podiums, following the bronze by Gabriela Agundez and Alejandra Orozco in the 10-meter synchronized platform event at Tokyo 2020.
