Franco Colapinto Will Be Penalized With a 15-Place Grid Drop at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia
The Argentine driver will face a penalty for two reasons that will affect his start
The Argentine Franco Colapinto (Alpine) will lose fifteen places on Sunday in the starting grid of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the sixteenth of the Formula One World Championship, which takes place at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.
Colapinto, born 23 years ago in Pilar (Buenos Aires), loses ten positions for changing various parts in the power unit of his single-seater; and another five for the accident he caused last Saturday in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, held on the urban circuit of Baku; as announced this Friday in Sepang.
The Argentine -twelfth in the World Championship, with 27 points- had been the sad note of the last race, as he took his own teammate, the French Pierre Gasly -when both were clearly aiming for points-, and the Englishman Lando Norris (McLaren, the reigning world champion) off the track after the first of the two re-starts, with two-thirds of the race completed and at the first corner of the Baku track; an action that caused all three to retire.
