Hector Barbera has been fired by Pons Racing team after being convicted for drunk driving.

The Moto2 rider was arrested on Wednesday in Valencia, Spain and was sentenced to a one-year driving ban. Barbera was caught in a similiar situation in 2013 and was later caught driving with a suspended license.

Following the latest events in Valencia with the driver Héctor Barberá on the night of 07/06/18, today 08/06/18 PONS Racing and Héctor Barberá rescinded the contract of mutual agreement that united them for the current season 2018.

PONS Racing wants to thank Héctor Barberá for his services and wishes him the best in the future.
