Chaos in Brazil: Track Hole Disrupts Motogp GP
A hole on the main straight in Goiânia forces schedule changes at the Brazilian GP and raises serious safety concerns.
The Brazilian MotoGP Grand Prix has descended into chaos and uncertainty following the appearance of a hole on the main straight of the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna. The issue, discovered after the premier class qualifying session, has forced a complete reshuffle of the weekend schedule.
What initially appeared to be a minor surface defect quickly escalated, becoming larger and starting to sink, raising serious safety concerns among riders and teams. Reports from the circuit indicate that the hole’s rapid deterioration made it too dangerous to ignore.
Recent heavy rainfall in the region is believed to have caused the damage, compromising the track surface. In response, race organizers, alongside the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and Dorna, have been working urgently to fix the problem. The repair plan involves cutting open the affected section, cleaning it thoroughly, and refilling it to restore safe racing conditions.
As a result, Moto2 and Moto3 sessions have been postponed, while the MotoGP sprint race is still expected to take place at its scheduled time, pending final safety checks. Ensuring rider safety remains the top priority before any on-track action resumes.
