In a dramatic turn of events at the Hungarian GP, Red Bull's "Checo" Pérez and Mercedes Benz's George Russell faced a disastrous day. Pérez crashed into the wall with six minutes and 45 seconds remaining, finishing sixteenth, while Russell, the pole position winner at the last Grand Prix in Silverstone, ended up seventeenth. Both drivers were eliminated in the first round of qualifying.
