According to information published by Daily Mail, British gymnast Gabriel Langton has been discharged from hospital after the fall he suffered during Friday's gymnastics final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The 19-year-old was taken to a hospital in Glasgow, where he remained for around 24 hours while undergoing several precautionary medical examinations.

According to a statement from Team England, the test results were very positive.

"Gabriel was taken to hospital overnight as a precaution and underwent several tests today, with very positive results. Thankfully, there are no serious complications, and he will be discharged to return to the team hotel this evening."

The statement also said Langton is in good spirits, grateful for the many messages of support he has received, and looking forward to rejoining the team to celebrate the team's silver medal.

How did Gabriel Langton's fall happen?

The incident occurred during a release move on the horizontal bar when Langton landed headfirst on the mat from an approximate height of 2.6 metres.

Following the impact, he remained motionless while receiving medical treatment.

The competition was paused for around 30 minutes while medical staff attended to him. He was later taken out of the Glasgow International Arena on a stretcher while wearing a neck brace, receiving applause from the spectators.

Competition resumed after the interruption

Following the delay, the gymnasts were allowed another warm-up before the final resumed.

England's Luke Whitehouse was among the athletes who competed immediately after the incident. He completed his routine but was unable to stick the landing and left the competition floor visibly emotional.

"It was really tough. We had to pull ourselves together, try to put it to one side mentally and focus on what we had to do. I think everyone should be proud of how we carried on after Gabe's fall," Whitehouse said.
