MLB Pitcher Suspended Amid Gambling Investigation
Dominican closer Emmanuel Clase of the Cleveland Guardians has been placed on paid administrative leave until August 31 as Major League Baseball continues its probe into sports betting allegations.
Emmanuel Clase, the standout reliever for the Cleveland Guardians, has been removed from the roster and placed on paid, non-disciplinary leave through the end of August. The move comes amid an ongoing investigation by MLB into possible violations of the league’s gambling policy.
This marks the second case involving a Guardians pitcher under review. Luis Ortiz, also from the Dominican Republic, had already been placed on similar leave earlier this summer and remains sidelined under the same conditions.
Guardians Respond to the Situation
The Guardians released a statement following the announcement, explaining that the club is fully cooperating with the league’s confidential process and will refrain from commenting further until the inquiry is concluded. They also clarified that no additional players or staff are currently expected to be impacted.
