Star catcher, captain of New York Heights, and former firefighter, Denae Benites has established herself as the most dominant figure in the Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL) and one of the leading figures in international sports.
Denae Benites' path to the top of professional sports has been anything but conventional. Raised in Las Vegas, she was the first and only woman to play varsity men's baseball at Centennial High School.
Since there were no women's professional baseball leagues in the U.S. at the time, she split her life between community service as a volunteer firefighter and paramedic in Delaware and training in local men's leagues to keep her skills sharp behind the plate.
The Road to Glory
Her international impact began to solidify in 2019 after making her debut with the U.S. Women's National Baseball Team (USWNT), winning the gold medal at the WBSC Pan American Championship that same year and, later, the silver medal at the 2024 Women's Baseball World Cup.
