The Final Nail In Lopetegui's Coffin - Football Crazy Episode 75
Barca seal Lopetegui's fate in El Clasico, things take a turn on MLS Decision Day, and Ligue 1's bad boys save the day.
This week on Football Crazy we celebrate the life and times of Leicester City's beloved chairman, Vichai Srivadhanaprabha, who, on Saturday, lost his life in a tragic helicopter accident outside the King Power Stadium along with two members of his staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, as well as pilot Eric Swaffer, and his partner and co-pilot, Izabela Roza Lechowicz.
Following on from that, we delve into an chocker-block weekend of on-the-field action, beginning with the Big One, El Clásico, in which Real Madrid's under-performing superstars dropped to ninth (NINTH!) in the standings after Ernesto Valverde's tactical acumen, coupled with new dad Luis Suarez's hat-trick heroics, saw Barcelona run out 5-1 winners and La Liga leaders. Elsewhere in Spain, another late winner saw Alaves climb to second (SECOND!), Sevilla piled more misery on Huesca to go third, Atletico Madrid's defenders made up for their midweek mauling, while Espanyol fell victims to a late, late Valladolid goal. Oh, and despite overnighting in a maternity ward, Iago Aspas was able to bag a hat-trick in Celta's win over Eibar.
Moving on, Kev Bauer, our MLS mole, reports on a bonkers Decision Day that saw LA Galaxy blow a 2-0 lead and miss the play-offs, Atlanta United miss out on the Supporters Shield because of "those pesky" New York Red Bulls, and LAFC make it to a post season at the first time of asking.
In France, bad boys Kylian Mbappe and Memphis Depay were assigned bench-warming duties for disciplinary reasons only to come on and score the winners for their teams, as Paris Saint-Germain triumphed in Le Classique and Lyon saw off Angers. And in England, Martial law reigns supreme at Manchester United, Sarri-ball continues to terrorize Premier League defenses, and Mohamed Salah has officially rediscovered his Midas touch.
