Good News for the Chiefs! Isiah Pacheco Returns Against the Raiders
The Kansas City Chiefs announced this Thursday that their star running back, Isiah Pacheco, is ready to play in Week 13’s Black Friday clash against the Las Vegas Raiders. Pacheco, who suffered a fibula fracture in September, will make his return to action after spending over two months on injured reserve.
The Puerto Rican-born running back has been instrumental in the Chiefs’ victories in Super Bowls LVII and LVIII, and he remains the key weapon in their ground attack. This game will mark his first appearance since sustaining the injury in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chiefs Bolster Their Lineup Against the Raiders
The Chiefs will also see the return of defensive end Charles Omenihu, who hasn’t played since the AFC Championship Game in January, where Kansas City defeated the Baltimore Ravens. Omenihu suffered an ACL tear during that game, requiring a lengthy recovery. His comeback adds much-needed versatility to the defensive line, allowing Chris Jones greater flexibility to apply pressure from various positions.
However, not all news is positive for Kansas City. They will be without kicker Spencer Shrader, who was signed to replace their star kicker Harrison Butker. Butker, sidelined with a knee injury that required surgery, is expected to need at least two more weeks to recover.
To fill the gap, the Chiefs have signed veteran kicker Matthew Wright, who has played for nine different NFL franchises. While Wright is a reliable option, the absence of Butker—one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history with an 89.2% career field goal accuracy—leaves a significant void.
A Critical Matchup
The return of Pacheco and Omenihu strengthens the Chiefs as they face a crucial divisional matchup against the Raiders. Kansas City will hope these reinforcements can help maintain their lead in the AFC West despite challenges on special teams.
