Hamstrung De Jong set to miss up to six weeks
Barcelona is set to be without Frenkie de Jong for up to six weeks after the midfielder suffered an injury in training.
The 28 year-old was unable to finish training on Friday, with tests later confirming he had suffered a hamstring injury.
De Jong has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season and netted his first LaLiga goal since January 2025 in their 3-0 win over Levante last weekend.
He has also registered seven assists from 47 chances created, while his 94.2 percent passing accuracy is the second best of any player in the squad to play more than 500 passes.
De Jong is set to miss key fixtures, with Barcelona's Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid coming next week, while Champions League round-of-16 clashes against either Paris Saint-Germain or Newcastle United in mid-March.
"First-team player Frenkie de Jong sustained an injury to the distal biceps of his right leg during this morning's training session," Barcelona confirmed.
"Medical tests have confirmed that the expected recovery period will be approximately five to six weeks."
The Dutchman has established himself as a key part of Barcelona's midfield this season, filling in for Pedri, who made his return from injury against Levante.
Barcelona does have a 100 percent win-rate without De Jong in the side this season, winning all eight of its matches, while conceding just 0.6 goals on average per game.
