Getafe confirms final offer for Jadon Sancho
Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed the club has been working on a deal for the past four months to bring free agent Jadon Sancho to Spain.
Sancho is without a club after Manchester United chose not to trigger the one-year option in his contract at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old endured a difficult five-year stint at Old Trafford, scoring just 12 goals and providing six assists in 83 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils.
He also spent time on loan with former club Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa, with the latter stint resulting in UEFA Europa League glory under Unai Emery.
But after his exit from United, Sancho has failed to find a new club, although reports suggested a move back to Dortmund was close, but never materialised.
It has now emerged that Getafe is keen to sign Sancho, with Torres confirming a final offer has been made to the former England international.
"That's absolutely true; I've been working on this for four months. He's now a free agent. We've made him a final offer," Torres told local radio in Spain.
Getafe sits 14th in LaLiga after its opening eight games of the season, with Rayo Vallecano its next opponent at Estadio Coliseum on Tuesday (AEDT).
It has won just one of its past six LaLiga games, a 1-0 victory against Malaga, but that did not stop it from bringing former Real Madrid player Dani Carvajal to the club.
Carvajal, like Sancho, was also without a team after bringing the curtain down on a trophy-laden 13-year stint with Madrid, but has since arrived at Getafe.
Torres, however, said a deal to sign Sancho was a little more difficult than the one for Carvajal, saying: "He's 26 years old, he's very good, so this [signing] is a bit trickier.
"He's previously played for Manchester [United] and Aston Villa, so it's not as if he's coming from anywhere. I know he's got offers from Qatar and from a number of other places.
"We need to be patient, not put pressure on him, and let him decide for himself."
