Woltemade buoyed after starring for Juventus
Nick Woltemade was buoyed by his display against Celta Vigo in the UEFA Europa League, believing it was his best game in a Juventus shirt so far.
Woltemade, who joined Juve on loan from Newcastle United during the most recent transfer window, helped the Bianconeri defeat Celta 2-1 on Friday (AEDT).
After going behind to Hugo Alvarez's opener, Woltemade volleyed in an equaliser after half-time before Randal Kolo Muani came off the bench to score a 92nd-minute winner.
Germany international Woltemade has yet to score in Serie A, but has now netted in both of his UEFA Europa League appearances for Juve after scoring a penalty against NEC on matchday one.
Woltemade now hopes to build on his strong performance and is eyeing more minutes alongside Kolo Muani.
"I think this was my best game for Juve. Obviously I can do better, but I am happy with the goal," Woltemade said.
"A goal always helps confidence, of course, that is important for a striker, and I want to keep getting stronger.
"I like playing with Kolo. When there is just one centre-forward, the defenders can focus on just marking one and it is easier for them, whereas with two of us we can divide up the space more.
"I am a good player, Kolo is a good player, so the decision is up to the coach, but as long as we keep scoring goals, everyone will be happy."
Juventus is top of the UEFA Europa League phase, ahead of second-place Bayer Leverkusen on goals scored, and it will be hoping to produce another strong showing domestically this weekend when it hosts high-flying Lazio in Serie A.
Lazio sits second behind Inter Milan on goal difference alone, with both sides on 16 points with five wins and a draw apiece after six matches so far this season.
Juve, meanwhile, is outside the top six in seventh having won three of its six matches, with a defeat and two draws also registered so far.
