Oyarzabal insists you can say no to Barcelona
Mikel Oyarzabal has been linked with a move to Barcelona, but the forward is more than happy with life at Real Sociedad, insisting one can say "no" to the LaLiga champion.
The 29-year-old has become a key player for Real Sociedad over the years, scoring 133 goals and providing 60 assists across 437 appearances for the club.
His 15 goals in LaLiga last season were the most he has managed in a single season, while he also lifted the Copa del Rey in 2025-2026, the second time he has won the competition with La Real.
Oyarzabal has also made a strong impression for Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring four goals and registering one assist in five games.
Barca has been in the market for a forward this transfer window, with Julian Alvarez also linked with a move to the club.
La Real's captain has already stated his desire to stay at his current club, but he has not completely closed off a potential transfer.
"Can you say no to Barcelona? Yes, you can. Of course you can. Other players have done it," Oyarzabal told El Chiringuito.
"I’m incredibly happy in San Sebastian. I consider Real Sociedad my home. It's a place where I can live the life I want alongside the people closest to me. I've always said I'm exactly where I want to be.
"In life, you never know what can happen. Football can change very quickly."
La Real begins the 2026-2027 LaLiga season away to Real Madrid, while Barca starts its title defence against Athletic Club at home on 17 August (AEST).
