Toure scores inside a minute as Norwich routs Dons
Australia star Mohamed Toure hit the back of the net after just 37 seconds as Norwich City thrashed MK Dons 4-1 to go into the second draw for the Carabao Cup.
Toure was put clean through on goal by Kenny McLean after the Dons failed to play out of their own half, and the Socceroos forward lashed a bullet of shot past Craig MacGillivray in the visitors' goal before he'd even seen it.
Just six minutes later, Toure was through again after dispossessing Cohen Bramall, but this time he chose to square the ball for Anis Ben Slimane, who made no mistake to double the Canaries' lead.
Ben Chrisene saw his shot deflected in on 43 minutes as Norwich had the home fans cheering again, and while MK Dons got onw back on 56 minutes through Ryan Wintle, Andre Brooks celebrated a first goal for his new club just three minutes later as the hosts made sure of the result.
"We had to hit them early and try to kill their momentum, and we did that in the first couple of minutes, as you saw, and then we had control of the game," Toure said when asked about his electric start to the match.
Toure said he wasn't quite back to full fitness since returning from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but the club is doing a good job of bringing him back to 100 per cent.
"I'm very excited now with this new season to do well for Norwich and just progress and see what we can do."
