Real Madrid have sacked manager Santiago Solari and appointed former manager Zinedine Zidane to replace him, the club announced on Monday.

Solari lasted less than a season on the job, having previously taken over for Julen Lopetegui just four months ago.

Zidane returns to Madrid on a three-year deal after walking away from the club this past offseason. He previously led Los Blancos to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles.

The club is planning a press conference with Zidane and president Florentino Perez later Monday.
