Barbora Krejcikova will face Dominika Salkova in another all-Czech affair at the Prague Open after the second seed rolled past Lucie Havlickova in the round of 16.

Krejcikova beat Havlickova 6-4 6-2 to book her quarter-final spot, though the match was perhaps closer than the scoreline suggested as she required one hour and 47 minutes. 

The first set featured a series of back-and-forth games, with a break in the ninth enough to ensure Krejcikova inched ahead. 

Both players had saved break points before the former Wimbledon champion took control, and a nice net approach and slice saw her convert her second set point when back on serve.

Krejcikova then saw four break points pass her by in the opening game of the second set, and though she faced pressure in her next two service games, winning a six-deuce game five against the serve put her on course for victory.

Another break in game seven gave Krejcikova some daylight, and she served out the contest to love to make it seven straight victories.

Earlier on Thursday, third seed Sara Bejlek defeated Maria Timofeeva 6-1 6-1 and Lilli Tagger beat Mai Hontama 6-4 6-4. 

Bejlek and Tagger will now meet in the last eight, with the victor on course for a possible semi-final clash with Krejcikova.

On the other side of the draw, Lanlana Tararudee dumped fourth seed Nikola Bartunkova – another Czech – out following a remarkable 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 7-6 (8-6) victory.

Tararudee had trailed 5-1 in the third set and had to save three match points in the next game, but that hold started a four-game winning run, and after the players exchanged two further breaks, the world number 82 held her nerve in the tie-break.

While Krejcikova rolls on and remains on course to face reigning Prague Open champion Marie Bouzkova in the final, Thursday's most entertaining match was won by Tararudee.

Her victory over Bartunkova came after three hours and 17 minutes, making it the second-longest WTA 250 match on a hard court all season.

The only match to run longer was Yue Yuan's victory over Sara Sorribes Tormo at Cluj-Napoca, which lasted three hours and 24 minutes.
