Rafael Nadal Announces His Retirement!
The Spanish tennis legend announced his retirement at 38, ending a remarkable career with over 90 titles, including 22 Grand Slam victories.
Rafael Nadal announced his definitive retirement from tennis this Thursday, stating that his final tournament will be the Davis Cup Finals in Málaga, taking place from November 19 to 24.
“I’m here to tell you that I’m retiring from professional tennis,” said the Spanish player in a video message.
“I’m really excited that my last tournament will be the Davis Cup Finals, representing my country. It’s like closing the circle,” added the 22-time Grand Slam champion.
“The truth is, it’s been a tough few years, especially the last two. I don’t think I’ve been able to play without limitations. It’s obviously a difficult decision,” said the 38-year-old tennis star, who last competed at the Paris Olympics.
Nadal (born in Manacor, 1986) retires with 92 career titles, his first won in 2004.
Among his achievements are 14 French Open titles, four US Opens, two Wimbledon titles, two Australian Opens, two Olympic gold medals, and five Davis Cups.
