'No one is bored with winning' – Yamal targets more silverware with Spain

Lamine Yamal insisted "no one is bored with winning" as he targets more silverware with Spain in his career.

The 19-year-old has already won the World Cup and the Euros with La Roja, winning the former this summer after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final.

Yamal became the third-youngest player to play in a World Cup final, after Pele in 1958 (17y 249d) and Giuseppe Bergomi in 1982 (18y 201d), while he also kicked off Spain's Nations League campaign with a goal against England in a 3-2 win.

His opener after two minutes was the third-quickest goal England have ever conceded at Wembley Stadium, after first-minute strikes against Hungary in 1953 and Scotland in 1957, while his seven shots are the joint-most ever by a Spain player in a Nations League match.

Although many questioned whether Spain's motivation would drop after this summer's success, Yamal believes their professionalism was never in doubt.

"We work calmly and with the desire to achieve more; no one is bored with winning anymore," the teenager told On Sport.

"I try to play as effectively as possible, make a difference, and give everything I have for the team, but my fundamental role is to achieve balance.

"The team adapts to the presence of several players, and each player is special in what they do."

La Roja are unbeaten in their last 39 matches, the longest such run among all European nations in all competitions (W30 D9).

Spain face Croatia in their next Nations League match on Tuesday as they hope to reach the final four of the tournament once again.
