Here’s What Mbappé Said After Being Eliminated from the Euro
French forward Kylian Mbappé expressed his disappointment over his team’s lack of finishing power, which was key in their semifinal loss to Spain in Euro 2024, a team he admitted "plays very well."
"It's hard to take, we wanted to go to the final, and now we're going home," Mbappé said in the mixed zone at Munich Arena.
"Spain plays very well. We wanted to be better and started off well, scoring the first goal, but then they scored two quick goals and made it really tough for us. In the end, that's football; if you don't score when you have chances, you go home," he added.
Mbappé admitted he played without the protective mask because it was affecting his performance and comfort: "I was fed up with it, I couldn't see well with it on. I talked to the doctor, and he told me to make the decision like a man, and I don't regret it."
"I don't know if we were missing a lot, but we definitely lacked enough to not reach the final. They played better than us, so they deserved to make it to the final. My ambition was to be European champion and have a good Euro, but I did neither," concluded the Real Madrid player.
