Lamine Yamal Matches Kylian Mbappé’s Historic Champions League Record
The Barcelona star scored again in Europe and reached a mark previously held only by Mbappé before turning 20.
Lamine Yamal found something to celebrate on a difficult night for Barcelona. His goal in the 4-2 defeat to PSG allowed him to reach a historic milestone in the UEFA Champions League.
The 19-year-old winger now has 13 goals in the competition, matching the total Kylian Mbappé reached before his 20th birthday.
That puts both players level for the most Champions League goals ever scored by a teenager. Erling Haaland, with 10, sits just behind them.
The Goal That Put Lamine Level With Mbappé
The goal came in the 79th minute at the Parc des Princes. Lamine attacked the space behind the PSG defense before beating Matvey Safonov to make it 2-2 at the time.
It was his second goal in three Champions League appearances this season and the 13th of his career in the competition.
The result ultimately left Barcelona disappointed, but the goal added another remarkable milestone to a career already filled with records despite his age.

Mbappé Needed Fewer Games to Reach 13
Although the two now share the record, they reached it at very different speeds. Lamine scored his 13th Champions League goal in his 36th appearance, while Mbappé needed only 23 matches to reach the same total as a teenager.
The difference highlights Mbappé’s extraordinary scoring efficiency during his early European career, but also the remarkable number of elite-level matches Lamine has already played at such a young age.
And the Barcelona star still has plenty of time to claim the record outright before turning 20.
One More Goal Would Put Lamine Alone at the Top
The equation is now simple: one more goal would take Lamine Yamal past Mbappé and make him the highest-scoring teenager in Champions League history.
Barcelona must quickly respond to the defeat in Paris and get their European campaign back on track, but Lamine’s regular place in the starting lineup should give him several opportunities to make the record his own.
For Barcelona, the priority is recovering ground in the competition. For Lamine, every European night now also brings the chance to set a benchmark no teenager has ever reached before.
The Record Lamine Now Shares With Mbappé
- Lamine Yamal has 13 Champions League goals before turning 20, matching Kylian Mbappé’s record.
- The Barcelona star reached the mark in 36 appearances, compared with Mbappé’s 23.
- One more goal would put Lamine alone at the top of the competition’s all-time teenage scoring list.
