Vincent Kompany is hopeful Bayern Munich will have Harry Kane available for their Champions League play-off second leg clash with Celtic on Tuesday. 

Kane was absent from training ahead of the game at the Allianz Arena, but Kompany was on hand to play down fears of a serious injury to the England captain. 

Bayern hold a slender advantage in the tie, with Daizen Maeda scoring late to give Brendan Rodgers' side hope of an upset in the second leg. 

Michael Olise and Kane were on target at Celtic Park, with the latter netting his 29th goal from his 30 appearances across all competitions this season. 

Kane suffered a facial injury in Bayern's match against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, a game that ended 0-0 and preserved their eight-point lead at the summit. 

"It's nothing bad for Harry, but we have very little time to recover," Kompany told reporters on Monday.

"Sometimes you need an extra day, but we'll see how Harry feels tomorrow morning. I assume it's nothing bad."

Bayern have won their last five home European matches against Scottish opponents and have never lost at home against a Scottish team (W7 D3).

Indeed, they have progressed from their last 13 Champions League knockout ties when they have won the first leg, last losing to Inter in 2010-11 after holding the advantage in the tie from the first game. 

Bayern are also unbeaten in their last 20 home matches in the Champions League (W16 D4), while only once previously have they had a longer such run in the competition – 29 games between March 1998 and April 2002.

But Kompany is expecting a difficult clash against Celtic, who have built up a 13-point lead at the summit of the Scottish Premiership. 

"Tomorrow will be an important game for us and the whole club. We are very strong at home," Kompany said. 

"I have seen a lot of Celtic's games - they have done very well in the Champions League so far and can always be dangerous. 

"We won at Celtic Park and then got an important point in Leverkusen. It's a good opportunity to do something well again in these six days, which have been very busy.

"When the results are right, you have that little bit of extra strength, and that should help us tomorrow."

Bayern endured a difficult clash against Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen on Saturday, with the defending Bundesliga champions perhaps unfortunate not to win the game. 

Kompany's side accumulated an expected goals (xG) total of just 0.05 to Leverkusen's 2.16, with Bayern restricted to just two efforts on Lukas Hradecky's goal. 

"We have never experienced anything like what happened against Leverkusen, where we had to defend so much. It was a good experience - something like that had to happen at some point. We can take that with us into the upcoming games," midfielder Jamal Musiala said.

"The mood in the team is positive. We didn't have our best day in Leverkusen - and still didn't lose, which is a good sign for the whole team. There is a lot we can do better, but the team spirit, the ability to fight, to keep a clean sheet, is something we need if we want to go far.

"It won't be an easy game (against Celtic). We saw what it was like in Glasgow. We have to prepare well, make sure we are fresh and mentally ready. We have to be playing at 100%, not let up and start strong right away - and we hope that we win," Musiala added.
