After defeating Aston Villa in the European Super Cup final, PSG now has the chance to lift even more silverware this week in another battle between last season’s winning teams.

Luis Enrique’s side takes on Lens in the 2026 Trophée des Champions, the annual clash between the previous season’s winners of Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.

Lens vs. PSG Brings Together Last Season’s Top Two

This year’s showpiece will also feature the top two teams from last season’s Ligue 1 campaign. Lens enjoyed a remarkable season, winning the Coupe de France and finishing second in the league ahead of the likes of Marseille and Lyon.

However, that success came at a cost, with manager Pierre Sage leaving the club to take over at Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmöller has taken charge and could make an immediate impact by taking advantage of the final being played at Lens’ home stadium, while PSG could still be feeling the effects of Wednesday’s triumph.

However, PSG remains a winning machine and has the squad depth to begin the new season exactly where it left off: by winning.
