A season that began with such buzz and expectation following the arrival of Mohamed Salah has fallen a little flat for Trabzonspor. The team was knocked out of the Europa League playoffs, which resulted in the departure of Fatih Tekke as manager.
Mohamed Salah Provides A Bright Spot For Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor's Süper Lig form has largely been inconsistent, with two wins, two losses and a draw. However, there has been at least one bright spark, with Salah scoring four goals in five league games.
A new coach was appointed on Thursday, and his first mission is the visit of Galatasaray.
German manager Thomas Reis recently had a two-year spell at Süper Lig side Samsunspor, so he will be well aware of the importance of a match like this for Trabzonspor before heading into the international break.
Speaking after his arrival, Reis praised Salah's work ethic but also called on the entire squad to play its part for the rest of the season.
“We don't need Salah alone to win matches, we need all the players,” said Reis.
Galatasaray Arrives As Süper Lig Leader
That will certainly be the case on Saturday against a Galatasaray side that has started the season as strongly as ever, with four wins and a draw.
Although Victor Osimhen is out injured, the talent still available to the league leaders remains enviable and will provide a stern test for a retooled Trabzonspor.
